About JJ Sykora
JJ Sykora has travelled, lived and still works around the globe in a broad range of cultures and settings. He has experienced wartime, highjacking at gunpoint and violent regime changes on one side of the spectrum, as well as the best that humanity has to offer on the other. His genuine interest in people, world events, philosophy, and the unknown wonders of the universe form the basis to his compellingly shared ideologies in The Great Begending. He believes growth and creation is fundamental to human contentment and uses his writing, painting, music, gardening, work in developing countries, and growing a family to achieve his contentment. He hopes his words are entertaining as well as thought provoking. In 2018 he published his first novel The Resolution and his second novel The Great Begending in 2026

The Great Begending
BEGENDING

Definition:
A moment that is simultaneously a start and a finish;
the point where closure gives rise to origin.
The precarious balance of ‘good and evil’ on Earth is threatened by the invasion of an impatient underworld fed-up with their relegation to humanities spiritual basement and the persistent unjustified negative narrative characterising Hell. Their invasion activates a sleeper cell thousands of years in the making and the epic battle for the soul of humanity is underway with present-day NYC as the setting for this apocalyptic struggle. Demonstration of equally formidable mystical intervention by both sides forces the dynamic conflict to rapidly evolve through initial forced indoctrination and unconscionable violence to rational debate as a means for conflict resolution – a reflection of mankind’s ongoing journey. Subsequent dialogue reveals the surprising rational behind both side’s actions, the cynical appropriation and misuse of religion, and the true forces behind good and evil on Earth. Surprisingly, the lines between good and evil and Heaven and Hell are promptly blurred and ultimately it will be mankind who decides what path they take forward, and more importantly, what they do with it to make the world a better place.
The Resolution
Ron Lee is known for his New Year's resolutions, but as midnight approaches on New Year's Eve 2014, he's coming up dry. In a burst of alcohol-induced genius, it comes to him: a way to satisfy both his compulsion for resolutions and his unquenchable lust for Brandi, his wife of twenty years. He resolves to make love to her every day of 2015.
Brandi has her doubts but soon adapts to the resolution with relish...and then some. Ron on the other hand, discovers he's woefully unprepared for the physical and mental challenges brought on by the resolution. Still, he's nothing if not stubborn. With help from friends, professionals, (and much to his surprise) the purple-haired clerk at a local sex shop and a Tibetan Yogi, Ron perseveres. And as the days pile up, the resolution takes on astonishing new dimensions, taking Ron and Brandi on a transformational spiritual journey. Along the way they discover what it means to be human, the power of mindfulness, and how sex can be the gateway to enlightenment. The resolution provides Ron with uncharacteristically profound personal insights, but its effect on Brandi is truly life-changing and reveals secrets from her past that will change her life forever...and the world for the better. ___________________________ The Resolution is a raunchy, thought-provoking, engaging and very funny account of one amazing year in the life of one ordinary married couple as they discover there's far more to love, sex, and being human than they ever thought possible.

The Resolution is a quirky, humorous and unexpected journey into female empowerment.
At first glance this book might look like your typical “middle-aged couple reignites the flame of their love” story, but this book takes a surreal turn and really blossoms into something unique. It offers a hilarious, raunchy and surprisingly feminist take on classic romance tropes that absolutely delighted me from start to finish. The humor and irony of this story is deeply embedded into its content which is rich and incredibly well written.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read an interesting, funny and original book with a bit of witty, dirty humor
